STAFF ORIENTATION

New Hire Orientation is a compilation of foundational courses topics, covering key elements from courses on safety, workplace conduct, laws & regulations, client care, crisis intervention, cultural awareness, client care, treatment, & provision of services.

SAFETY & EMERGENCIES

Workplace Safety & Emergency Management is health covers foundational health safety operations packed into a brief ~1-2 hour presentation (self-paced). Subtopics include HAZMAT, Culture of Safety, PPE, Fire Safety, MSDS, Infection Control, Emergency Evacuation, Active Shooter Response, & takes viewer through 2 fire drills.

RULES, BOUNDARIES & CONDUCT

The Rules, Boundaries and Conduct course provides a summary of client rights and important confidentiality laws (i.e. HIPAA & 42 CFR Part 2), & introduces concepts such as Ethics, Boundaries & Workplace Conduct. It also touches on workplace protocol on Discrimination & Harassment, Mandated reporting requirements, Responding to cases involving the Abuse of a Vulnerable population, and more.

CARE & SERVICE PROVISION

Care & Service Provision covers key topics related to, delivering quality care & treatment services, & maintaining the safey of program participants. The course introduces Cultural Competence, Crisis Management, & Referral Facilitaiton. Other Subtopics that are summariezed in the course include auch as de-escalation techniques, suicide prevention, recognition, and response.

NARCAN ADMINISTRATION

SAMHSA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as various state and local Public Health Departments, provide training and demonstrations on the administration of nasal Narcan (Naloxone). The CA Dept of Healthcare Services requires all staff members to undergo Narcan Administration trainng to prepare them to respond to an opioid overdose.
